Bunad Show Saturday on Main Stage (4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
Sunday on Main Stage (3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
The Norwegian Bunad (pronounced boo-nahd) came into existence about 100 years ago when a wave of national romanticism swept across the country. The designs are based on regional folk costumes. People in the cities had long been influenced by foreign fashion trends, but the first bunads were clearly related to the most familiar folk costumes. Inspirations for the designs were drawn from regional elements such as rose painting, wood carving or embroidery.
In recent years, interests in Norwegian bunads have steadily increased. They are fully recognized as a gala costume and on the 17th of May! During the popular Bunad Show, you will see various regions from Norway represented.
